The 2025-2026 Academic Year Philadelphia STLE Scholarship application is now open. 

Eligibility: Sophomores or above pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in the Physical Sciences, Engineering, Tribology, Mathematics, or similar studies with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Preference will be given to those studying or working in a field related to Lubrication Science.

Awards will be determined based on the number of qualified applicants, the merits of the applicants, and the total amount of money raised by the STLE Philadelphia Section prior to the June 30th awards decision date. Scholarships typically range from $500 to $2,000 awardee.

Instructions:

  1. Please type or print clearly the requested information. Send the completed application (including essay), with transcript and one faculty recommendation, by May 31, 2025, and send to Jeremy Styer at jstyer@vanderbiltchemicals.com with the subject line: Scholarship Application.
  2. Please complete only one application per student. Please do not submit multiple requests.
  3. Decisions will be made by June 30, 2025 and the scholarship recipients will be notified via email. Awardees will receive their checks by mail and a follow up will be scheduled for a “big check” presentation and write up for the Section website. Profiles of scholarship awardees will appear in a future edition of the STLE flagship magazine, Tribology and Lubrication Technology. Scholarship awardees may also be invited to present their work at a future Philadelphia STLE Section meeting in the form of a presentation or poster.
