A $500 scholarship was awarded to Bucknell chemical engineering major Shane Coudriet. Coudriet entered his junior year in the fall of 2024. Professor Wakabayashi states that Coudriet displays solid science and math fundamentals and essential critical thinking skills to solve engineering problems. Having completed his sophomore year now, he has established fundamental principles of engineering. Coudriet raises the entire class’ engagement level and classroom dynamics to a higher level thanks to his contribution and presence.
He participates in numerous extracurricular activities, in all areas of academic (Chem-E-car competition and coffee science research), athletic (university mascot) and service (engineering student board). Coudriet continues to cherish his wide-ranging hobbies like fishing, motorcycle restoration and vinyl record collection.
Following his freshman year, Coudriet had a summer internship at a grain ethanol plant and a second internship at a liquid emulsion plant following his sophomore year. He states that he learned how to use different kinds of lubricants for multiple applications, from keeping pumps running smoothly to heavy equipment. Knowing how lubricants work and the proper uses of them is vital in daily work in these fields.
