SUMMARY:January Technical Session
DESCRIPTION:Save the Date for our first 2017 technical session! \nPlease join fellow STLE members and friends for the 4th educational seminar for the 2016-2017 season – Nanotechnology and A Celebration of STLE Past Presidents! November’s meeting boasted over 50 attendees\, and we can’t wait to see you again this month – especially our past presidents! \nJan. 19th 2017: Nanotechnology & Past Presidents \nIncrease energy efficiency. Solve major health problems. Clean the environment. Build stronger\, more durable materials than ever before. These are all possible with nanoengineering. Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing field focused on engineering advanced materials at the nanometer scale. It has been said that “the impact of nanotechnology on the health\, wealth\, and lives of people will be at least the equivalent of the combined influences of microelectronics\, medical imaging\, computer aided engineering and man-made polymers developed in this country.” \nIt’s no secret that the impact of nanotechnology is felt right here at home in the tribology world. So do yourself a favor\, and come check out this great lineup of speakers for our January meeting. Featuring talks from current STLE President Ali Erdemir\, and George Diloyan of Nanotech Industrial Solutions\, you’re guaranteed to leave with better insight on this topic. In addition\, our January meeting will highlight STLE Philly scholarship winner Diana Haider of the University of Delaware – you can count on leaving chock full of knowledge! \nIn addition\, we would like to honor all of our STLE past presidents\, so please be sure to join if you’ve served as president of our great organization. \nFollowing the normal session\, we will continue with our tradition of hosting a brief STEM committee meeting – all are welcome and encouraged to participate!

SUMMARY:January Technical Session
DESCRIPTION:Greetings STLE Members and Friends! \nPlease join fellow STLE members and friends for the 4th educational seminar for the 2015-2016 season! The November meeting was BOOMING with over 60 attendees – Thanks to all attendees and all of our speakers who gave talks on chlorinated paraffin replacements\, and for those who stayed for our first STEM committee meeting! \nVGP 2016 Update \n In 2013\, the EPA issued an updated Vessel General Permit which authorizes discharges incidental to the normal operation of non-military and non-recreational vessels greater than or equal to 79 feet in length. These vessels are to use an EAL in all oil to sea interfaces unless technically infeasible. Our January meeting will kick off with a VGP update from industry expert Darren Lesinski of Total Specialties USA Inc. And to keep those EALs performing at their best\, we will learn about a special dehydrator from Evan Sohodski of Compact Membrane Systems Inc. Finally\, we will get a look at some exciting research done by one of our Philly STLE scholarship winners\, Jonathon Chambers of the University of Maryland\, on magnetorheological fluids. \nOur January meeting will be laudable\, so don’t miss out on an opportunity to learn\, grow and network with fellow industry professionals! Send your confirmation now to reserve a spot! \nRegistration Form
