The Philadelphia Section of the STLE is pleased to award a $1,000 Scholarship to Bchara Sidnawi, a graduate student in the College of Engineering at Villanova University.
Working alongside his advisor, Dr. Qianhong Wu, Bchara has used theoretical simulation to study nanoparticle deposition on soft substrates, which has the potential to alter surface mechanical properties. Inspired by the frictionless motion of red blood cells over the inner layer of blood vessels, Bchara’s nanoparticle research offers the potential for development of novel super lubrication systems, with preliminary experiments delivering very promising results.
Sidnawi is already an accomplished researcher, having published 8 papers in top scientific journals with at least 3 more in submission or preparation. He also holds 3 patents and has presented 12 conference papers. Dr. Wu says that Bchara is an inspiration to other students with his meticulous work ethic and dedicated attitude.
