R&D Chemist II

December 5, 2018 The Research Services Group within the R&D department has an opening for an exempt R&D Chemist II. Job assignments will range from developing analytical test methods using a variety of analytical instrumentation including: GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, and X-ray fluorescence. Other duties include performing chemical and instrumental analysis as well as running laboratory pilot plant operations and bench tests that simulate the refinery processes. The position also requires supporting and complying with the chemical hygiene plan, writing research reports and standard operating procedures, performing document control in accordance with ISO Documented Quality Systems, and conducting literature searches on assigned research projects. Some travel, up to 25%, may be required for attending customer visits and industry related meetings/seminars. This position will report to the Principal Chemist. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential. Must have well defined interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers. Multi-tasking ability to effectively prioritize and handle several different tasks simultaneously. Must be adaptable to the challenges that arise in an R&D environment. Applicant must exhibit the desire to practice Servant-Leadership. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. This position requires specialized education and exposure to chemical concepts, laboratory practices, analysis and interpretation of data, analytical instrumentation, and safety. Must have sufficient level of proficiency and related experience to be able to successfully execute job requirements and duties. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience required. Proficient in the use of computers and Windows based programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as other applicable software. Knowledge of petroleum chemistry, refinery operations or petrochemical products is a plus. This is not a bid job. Applicant will be selected on the basis of qualifications and a job interview.
