Associate Investigator- Tribology Lab

The Chemours Company headquartered in Wilmington, DE has an Associate Investigator- Tribology Lab position available in Wilmington, DE. This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Technology function. This position will report to the Technical Supervisor.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Set-up and safely operate various lubrication testers
Develop and execute experiments safely and independently, collect organize and record the necessary data, share conclusions broadly and continue experiments as needed with minimal guidance from supervision
Interpret and analyze results and make suggestions on alternative approaches or improvements
Interface with research investigators to set the objectives & priorities for the various tests
Document test results in electronic lab notebooks and SharePoint
Ensure the various laboratory and analytical measurement systems are in good working condition and to make upgrades as needed

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering
Sufficient mechanical skills to safely assemble and disassemble mechanical test equipment and utilize it to perform experiments to gather required data
Knowledge of computer-based systems necessary for lab operation, including MS Office tools
Self-motivated, customer focused and ability to independently achieve results
Ability to work in teams and work in a collaborative environment
Demonstrated problem-solving/troubleshooting and data analysis skills while executing or participating in multiple projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to keep accurate records of experimental procedures and data via an Electronic Laboratory Notebook to enable protection of proprietary information and intellectual property

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
Professional experience in a lubrication laboratory.
Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in supporting new applications in automotive and aerospace
Knowledge or the desire to learn lubrication science and related measurement technologies
