University of Maryland Grad Student Wins STLE Philadelphia Scholarship
Shayandev Sinha, a mechanical engineering graduate student at the University of Maryland was awarded a $2,000 scholarship by the Philadelphia Section of the STLE.
Working under the supervision of Professor Siddhartha Das, Sinha is studying the adhesion and lubrication of polyelectrolyte brushes and membranes. Through this work, Sinha has discovered new scaling laws which can be applied to better understand lubrication mechanisms in cartilage tissue and other bio-mechanical joints. Sinha has already published fourteen peer-reviewed papers and has a number of other manuscripts either submitted for publication or in preparation in only two years of graduate work.
The Philadelphia Section of the STLE is pleased to award Shayandev Sinha a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of his outstanding work in tribology.
